Featured Critter

Avon

Avon was a rescued rabbit that had been released into an Avon neighborhood last summer. His feet and testicles were chemically burned from the lawn care treatments of the yards he was passing through. He was skinny and dehydrated. Domestic rabbits are accustomed to a controlled diet of pellets, timothy hay, and fresh greens, none of which are found growing in a neighborhood. While he hasn't put on much weight, he has recovered well and is a real sweetheart. Adopt A Critter

New critters will be added to this page soon. We take in new animals all the time. Please check back often!

If you are interested in adopting a critter:
Please click the links for our Adoption Application and our Adoption Contract.
Fill out both documents and mail them to A Critter's Chance, 11057 Allisonville Road, PMB431, Fishers, IN 46038. After receiving the information, we will contact you to discuss the adoption. Please note, your application will be reviewed and references will be checked. It is very helpful to us if you can provide references from your vet's office or other animal-related organizations. We also require a home visit. Submission of an application is not a guarantee of approval. We take great care to place animals in homes that will be appropriate for the animal and the family it is going to. Please understand, our screening process is in place to assist the animals and the families who adopt them. It is very disappointing to adopt a new pet, only to find out it does not suit your family. It is also difficult for the animals to be moved from home to home due to failed adoptions. We screen well up front in an attempt to prevent future disappointments or problems.

Become pre-approved to adopt!
If you think you may be interested in adopting one of our critters in the future, don't wait to submit your application and contract! You can fill them out and mail them now. When we receive your information, we will call you to discuss the species of animal you are interested in. At this time, assuming everything goes well with our screening process, we can put you on our pre-approved list of adopters. When an animal comes to us that you are interested in adopting, the screening process is already complete. This speeds up the adoption process. Please note, we DO NOT adopt out wildlife!! Native wildlife is released back into their natural habitat.

Pip & Squeak (Females)
Pip and Squeak are two female Siberian hamsters. They are around a year and a half old. Hamsters are nocturnal, so they're active at night and in the early morning hours. Pip & Squeak enjoy running in their wheel and around their cage. They are quite entertaining to watch! We also have other hamsters available for adoption who are not yet pictured on our site. Please contact us before assuming we don't have the animal you're looking for!

Rowdy (Male)
Rowdy is a male hamster who just loves to run around his cage. He was being picked on by his brother, so he has a whole cage to himself now. In his picture, you can see part of the cute little stripe that runs down his back. Rowdy is only 2 to 3 months old.

Velvet (Female)
Velvet was surrendered by a third party who intervened when the owners were going to release her into the wild. If she had avoided predators, she would have starved to death. Velvet suffers from misaligned teeth. Since the front teeth don't meet, they don't grind down, they just grow and grow and grow. They have to be manually cut down once a month or she cannot close her mouth to eat or drink. She is super soft and very gentle. A Vet can teach you how to properly cut the teeth yourself, or you will need to have a monthly appointment to get them done.

Buckey (Male)
Buckey is a special needs male long haired lop eared rabbit. He's a doll baby. He suffers from misaligned teeth that grow and grow and grow until he cannot eat or drink. His front teeth have to be manually clipped at least once a month and his back teeth have to be surgically cut about every six months. Because he is long haired, his front teeth must be kept clipped for more than just eating. As he grooms himself the hair gets wrapped around those super fast growing teeth. He is such a gentle rabbit that he doesn't fight getting his teeth clipped or hair removed from them almost nightly as they just start getting long. He doesn't mind baths or getting his nails trimmed either. He needs to go to a special home where his owners will be diligent about his daily hygiene and care.

Snowflake (Female)
Snowflake was found running loose in a neighborhood and captured by a concerned person who knew domestic rabbits cannot survive in the wild. She then surrendered her to us. She's a big girl who is very curious and very sweet.

Avon (Male)
You will recognize Avon as our Featured Critter. He is a male lop-eared rabbit who is waiting for his forever home. With an adorable face like this, we're sure he'll be adopted quickly! You can read his complete story in the column on the left.
